The International Visitors Council of Greater Kansas City is a non-profit volunteer service organization whose purpose is to improve global understanding and make peace through exchange programs between international visitors and Americans in our communities. KCIVC promotes citizen diplomacy by person-to-person contacts to help shape United States foreign relations "one handshake at a time."

OUR PROGRAMS provide the link between prominent international leaders and professionals and their United States counterparts.  Through professional meetings, school visits, events, and home hospitality we connect people from around the world with these Citizen Diplomats in western Missouri and the state of Kansas. OUR VISITORS represent emerging leaders from around the world. These visitors literally "bring the world" to Greater Kansas City. They provide a first-hand opportunity for us to learn about the cultures and life in the 100 or more countries represented through these exchange and leadership programs, as they learn more about the real life of Americans in the United States.

KCIVC has been in existence for over 40 years. Originally located in City Hall, KCVIC was subsequently affiliated with the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce. In 1995 the International Visitors Council incorporated as an independent, non-profit organization with a 501(c)(3) tax exempt status with the Internal Revenue Service.
