In addition to the International Visitor Leadership Program, the International Visitors Council was selected to host the Community Connections Program currently with the U. S. Agency for International Development administered by World Learning. Since 1998, over 206 participants from Eurasian countries of the former Soviet Union have interned in businesses in Greater Kansas City to learn the ins-and-outs of the free-market economy. These visitors have stayed overnight in homes to develop strong links with our community and to reinforce the dynamics of the program. KCIVC has hosted 146 professionals from Ukraine, 40 professionals from Russia, and 50 professionals from Azerbaijan under this program and the prior Community Connections Program under the U.S. Department of State.
