| Connecting International Visitors with American Youth | |
Visitors hosted by the International Visitors Council of Greater Kansas City are often connected with local American youth in school, camp and other organizational settings. The benefits of International Visitor presence in U.S. classrooms and among American youth include:
- Students who encounter an International Visitor have their curiosities piqued, and begin to develop enlightened and nuanced global perspectives. As the world community continues to become more connected, it is extremely important for the future leaders of the United States to have exposure to international representatives.
- For the program participants, meeting with students provides a much-desire opportunity to be cultural ambassadors and share information about their home countries. Furthermore, school visits provide a unique opportunity to gain insights into some of the core values of U.S. culture that are evident in the ways we educate our children.

Success Stories:
- Moroccan visitors on a project entitled "U.S. Society & Politics" visited Congress Middle School in the Park Hill School District in October of 2009. As they examined the middle school, they stopped to talk to a seventh-grade French class. There students practiced French with native speakers, learned about the life of students in Morocco, and a student received first-hand information for his Social-Studies research project on Morocco.
- In May of 2009, Saudi Arabian educators and education ministers visited Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy and met with administrators, toured the school, and spoke with students. The conversations with the students explored differences and similarities between Saudi and American schools, and socialization between genders in the two countries. Both the students and Saudi visitors walked away that day with a deeper understanding of another side of the world.
